My wife would like to become qualified in nail technology - manicures, extension etc, and would need a part-time course. Does anyone know if you can do this or would she have to look at a full-time bauticians course?

Thanks

My daughter is a nail technician and to start with she did a year's part-time (one evening a week) at the local college and then you are qualified enough to do an extension course. These are intensive courses usually completed in two days. Some colleges run them but her best bet is to go through large beauty suppliers who organize them. Don't know whereabouts you are, but here in the East of England there's a company called Ideal and another called Pheonix who have a website, she thinks but there should be some throughout the country. She can also speak to a beauty salon in your area and ask for the number of a supplier. Hope this helps!

I did a two-day course in Windsor a couple of years ago. It is very intensive training but I got all the kit and training I needed to start straight away.

I don't actually do it anymore as I couldn't get enough work to earn full time money, but if she just wants a part time career then it is very flexible.

Look at www.beauty-training.co.uk. There are plenty of schools throughout the country though. Just do a web search on nail technician.
