Contract of employment

I have no contract of employment where I work and when I asked my manager about it she said that she doesn't even have one. (Not that i beleive her)

Is this a legal requirement?

From the Department for Trade & Industry's website:

"Generally employers must give employees a written statement of the main particulars of
employment within two months of the beginning of the employment. It should include,
amongst other things, details of pay, hours, holidays, notice period and an additional note on
disciplinary and grievance procedures."

Inform her it is a legal requirement for a contract of employment within 8 weeks of employment. It makes no difference on the hours you work.
