What is the job title for this? A salesman who has exclusive selling rights for certain brands, for a particular geographic area. Not an employee of any one company; he/she takes orders from retailers and passes them on to the manufacturers. Not tied in to one manufacturer, has a portfolio of brands he can sell. (the specific case I have in mind is shoes). Many thanks.

If I had to enter job title on a tax return, I'd probably put something like 'Self-employed regional sales representative (footwear)".

Chris
It sounds like he's an agent of the footwear manufactuers. So, to pinch a little from Buenchico's suggestion, I'd put "Regional sales agent" or "Regional footwear sales agent".
Sounds to me like a Commercial Agent
