Old Exam Papers
3 Answers
Now I am about to qualify as a teacher, I would really love to re-read all my old GCSE and A Level exam papers and coursework from 1992 - 1996. Are these things stored anywhere after being marked? If so, where could I get copies?

My sister-in-law did an A level in art in the late 80's and she got a letter saying that she could collect her paintings by a certain date. Luckily for her I worked for the University which had her painting so went to collect it and was given the whole class's painting! I seem to remember that if they weren't collected by this particular day they would have been destroyed, and we're only talking a few months (maybe six) since she'd sat the exam.
As an A Level and GCSE examiner I would say no chance because it is from such a long time ago. I don't know how long the papers are stored for but I would suggest not much more than six months after all the awarding and appeals have finished. Returned coursework has to be kept by schools until the Christmas after the exam only- it always upset me that students don't come back to pick up the amazing work they have done and we have to chuck it away.
