I'm just doing an application for a job, in the references section it says my current employer will be contacted unless I give a specific reason. My employer does not know I'm applying for jobs, what reason can I put on the form to make it look like I'm not a bit sneaky?! Thanks!

usually they don't contact your current employer until after interview when they're considering giving you the job.
Request that - shouldn't be a problem
as an employer i wouldn't have a problem with what that ugly guy Bob suggests!

most people don't tell their employer that theyre looking for another job and a potential employer wont find it odd that you ask that they dont contact your current employer yet
If you are confident that your current employer is going to give you a good reference, request they contact them after you have handed your notice in or make you manager aware now that you are looking for a new job.
