I have just received a new contract from work as I have reduced my hours due to ill health. The new contract however has my annual salary down as my hourly rate. I am going to put a note on it when I return my copy, thanking them for the huge payrise and that I have been looking for a job like this all my life! In theory though, would I be able to hold them to this conract? I know----in my dreams.
Well once you've signed it, I'd say it's too bad!! That's the contract they've given you, and if they can't be bothered to query it, that's their problem. I wouldn't put any note on it at all, and just keep quiet. When you get your first month salary, and it's short, you can quibble about it then. You never know!!!
No you don't. The term for it is 'reasonably believable, or something similar.
If they put down �6.50 ph when you got �6, tthey'd find it harder to argue and may have to pay you �6.50. Especially if you also have an offer letter with that figure on. But if they put �10,000 ph when they meant �6ph, it's not reasonably believable that in your position, you'd get that salary.
