career in fundraising

i have recently graduated from a theatre design course and am interested in going into charity based work, i cant afford to volunteer though so im looking for a career. i would like to work in fundraising, designing and planning events. if anyone has experience in this area and could give me some advice for getting in, what qualifications i need etc. that would be great.
