I had an interview today. It seemed to go ok, until I was asked the question about what my expected salary would be. I wasn't sure what to say as it's a job quite different to what I've had in the past, so I replied whatever they felt was right. In hindsight I feel this wasn't a good answer - but yet as the same time shouldn't they have a set salary anyway? Wish I could stop beating myself up about it...thanks for your help!

I think that's ok tingirl.

On our application forms we ask for the applicant's expected salary to try and weed out those that have their head in the clouds.

If it's not a job you've done before then you're probably right to leave it open. Better than saying 50k when they only have 15k in mind.
