Descrimination?

I'm not sure this is the case but just wanted to check, i recently moved location and asked for an application pack from my old company (call centre) and they said they couldnt send me anything out without the name of my old team leader! i was there for four months inbetween studies and we barely spoke, i might also add that this was 3 years ago!
I couldnt think of their name and they told me they wouldnt help me and i couldnt re-apply without that name although they had the full record that id worked there!!!

Basically ive got another job now but im still p**sed off and was wandering if there is any action i could take against them (bare in mind i did ask to apply as a new candidate but they wouldnt let me)

Ive heard this is the case from a few people around the area who tried to re-apply and i dont think its fair that they cant re-apply just because theyve forgotten the name of someone they perhaps dont deal with very often. This is a joke!!

Any suggestions apart from the obvious (dont work in a call centre) would be much appreciated.

what sort of "action" were you hoping to take? You want to sue them? take them to court? Have you any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

i dont oftent agree with rever and funk but please move on for your own sanity!

haha! sorry maybe i didnt clarify, i meant action as in being listened to, by someone who cares and not at all anything to do with legal action or sueing as i have neither the patience or the money.

Like i said, i have a job now but feel that they should get rid of this silly rule for others who find themselves in this situation.

If nobody ever gave a toss then companies like this would get away with murder.

My question dumbed down is 'is this company breaking the law in their recruitment process cause i dont feel it is right'
