I had a break from nursing for 20 years to run a business with my husband, but kept my pin number and did occasional bank work. finally didnt renew my pin in 1999 thinking our future was secure!. Things have changed now and need to get my pin number back, but realise I have to "earn" it by having points etc, but dont know how to go about this. Any advice very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re-admission to the Register after a break in registration

If your registration has been lapsed for three months or longer you will be required to complete a re-admission to the register.

Standard Re-admission to the Register

In order to be eligible for a standard re-admission to the register you are required to:

have completed a minimum of 750 hours of registered practice within the last five years
have undertaken 35 hours of learning activity relevant to your practice in the last 3 years
pay the prescribed fee, annually.
Please note that you cannot include practice, as registered practice while your registration is lapsed, unless you have been registered with an overseas regulatory body during this time.

If you cannot meet the requirements for re-admission as listed above you will need to complete a Return to Practice course before being re-admitted to the Register.

For details on where to complete a Return to Practice course please call NHS Careers on 0845 6060655
