Help me with this statement / essay buisness, you clever lot!

Sorry about that disjointed mess, but I thought it might get some of you interested!!

I need to write an essay (about 200 words) to say why I should be on the 6thform council at school!

Any ideas to make it stand out?

(I'm not daft, by the way - I know basically what needs to go in it!!)

if ya know ya up to the job ya don't need to ask for help.find 1 or 2 points about yourself enhance it without lying.don't fill out long list of all the clever clog things ya can do cos that p''ss people off .don't try to please everyone cos ya can't .aim to get voters who are on the fence.

I KNOW I've asked it already (in fact I asked it at the same time), and I CAN put an essay together thank you very much. Is it such a crime to simply ask for a few ideas?? Good Lord.

the point is you have been already given good advice, you also have to appreciate that people will not know you personally so they cannot contribute a draft for you to copy.

You have to use the advice given then use your initiative to work out the rest, it isnt that difficult, I have done similar essays, you just have to take on board peoples advice.

it would have been better thanking people for their help instead of becoming impatient, are you sure you could handle working on the council with such poor motivation and lack of commitment?

What do you mean becoming impatient?? I posted the same question in two different categories at the same time, this one was just answered later and therefore appeared in the 'recent posts' box later. All clear now?

No, it was not. I don't want it 'done' by anyone else, especially not a group of strangers. I don't know who has upset you today but it certainly wasn't me, so there�s no need to vent your anger over an innocent question!

I do not have 'poor motivation' or 'lack of commitment', and I don't think you�re qualified to comment on that or any other aspect of my personality, having never met me.

why dont you get working on that essay, in all the time you have spent today asking people to help, why not read the advice you got originally and start working.....

I'll try and take that as a helpful comment.
Because a) I've just got home from work and I'm tired, and b) I already HAD started working on it WHEN I posted the question.

Let's try and be constructive here. The role of a School Council rep is presumably to represent the view of their year group/class and negotiate with the rest of the council to come up with reasonable suggestions/solutions to put to school management etc. Therefore if you have the following skills you could reference them in your statement: communication skills, presentation skills, negotiator, listening etc. Also, do you keep in touch with the views on the ground? How?
