Ok im 21 living in cheshire and i would like to go to uni to train to be a physio, but the thing is i dont think i have the grades so im willing to go to college and get the grades i need, but i dont know how to go about searching for a collage or uni in my area that can offer me flexible courses!
actually, i learned to my surprise that once you reach 21, uni's will accept you for whatever course you wanna do, so long as you show willingness, and above all, cash! grades or qualifications aside!
As a mature student ( over 21) it is true that you can be accepted without the relevant grades. However the reality is that the demand for University places for Physio outstrips supply and therefore most Uni's will be selective and choose people with the best possible grades.
The uni i work at has 8 applicants for every place.
I would also point out that at present, Physio's are struggling to get jobs. My university trains about 120 per year. Of the 100 who qualified in the summer only 3 have jobs, many are having to travel hundreds of miles to get any work at all and most are taking short term 6 month contracts. Because of this existing physios in jobs are not moving so there is little movement in the profession. Another issue relates to the growth of sports science degrees and qualified sports scientists who are taking on traditional physio roles, and are cheaper to employ.
