Job Interview- HELP!
1 Answers
Hi,
I have made the shortlist of candidates for a job at a legal consultancy office and in two weeks time I have an interview with them. I know that other people are going for interviews who have a background/Masters education in the field I'm going for. And whilst I have a law degree, my masters was in a different area. I would REALLY appreciate any tips on what I could do to sell myself in the interview and convince them that despite not having knowledge in this PARTICULAR area of the law, I'm the right person for the job! I really need to show them I'm the one the want. Any advice? Much appreciated!

To get on the shortlist you must already appeal to the consultancy. They know that a lot of job applications are "juiced" up to make the applicant seem irresistable .So now they want to see the REAL you and of course the others. It is probably to your advantage that your Masters was in a different area to your degree, probably suggesting a better rounded education.DON"T gush. I sense that you are extremely keen to get this job as you say you are the right person. So tell them that in your best statesman -like manner.Show your interest through speech and body language, but don't over-egg the pudding by seeming to be desperate.Let them realise that you're as interested in what you can do for the company as what they can do for you and except for the cynics they'll be eating out of your hand!!
P.S. look like a legal consultant.
