16 hour contract

hi i wasnt sure where to post this question,so please excuse me if im in the wrong place! i am employed on a 16 hour per week contract.if im not given 16 hours work does my employer still have to pay me? i havent refused any work just that they didnt have any work for me to do.thanks

Yes, your employer does have to pay you for the hours or let you collect them as lieu time.
I am also intested in what you have asked as i am a carer with a contact ov 16 hours and sometimes they dont have the work to supply me with my 16hrs work.

thanks. Haycal thats whats happened to me,ive spoken to my employer and they have agreed that they do have to pay me so if they cant give me the hours who am i to complain!!
