I went for a banking interview last Thursday and I was told i'd find out the outcome by Wednesday. It's Tueday already and I have not heard anything. How long does it usually take before you know, even though they give you a date to go by? I know they usually call you if you have got the job and write if you have not. Because it's so late, could it be that I haven't? And maybe i'll get a 'decline' letter through the post tomorrow?

Were others being interviewed after you/is the hiring decision made by one person or by committee etc etc? This will all affect the time it takes them to get back to candidates. If you're feeling brave you could call and see where they are in the decision making process? If you're unlucky this time, you can ask for some feedback while you're on the 'phone. Good luck :o)
Definitely call them. Having gone through the graduate recruitment milkround, it is amazing how often emails/calls/letters do not arrive when said. Be polite, explain you want to check progress and as Miss Zippy says, ask for any feedback. Dont read too much into not having heard - it really means nothing at all other than their disorganisation. If they said last wednesday they should have got back to you already.
Thanks both of you! I managed to e-mail the recruitment manager and she told me a letter had gone out in the post - funny how I have not received it yet..
HOWEVER.. I got the job :) I am over the moon. The process was so long because there was alot of people who had to be interviewed and the final decision was to be made by several people.
Yummy ( a very happy yummy) x
