Hi

Does anyone know how much lifeguards/swimming teachers get paid at swimming pools and or beaches. How do you go about getting qualifications/what qualifications do you need for this work?

Thanks

I know just the person to ask - be back later Skith!

but in the mean time see http://www.lifesavers.org.uk

I used to life guard (about 7 or 8 years ago) and wages varied a lot even then - i believe the average wage has dropped (in real terms) since then due to the number of lifeguards out there willing to do it... additionally its not much fun pool lifeguarding lots of sitting around followed by cleaning (your only allowed to guard the pool for 2 hour periods before a break, and as pools don't want loads of lifeguard sitting around the break ususally translates to cleaning the sports hall or something)... but having said that i did enjoy my time doing it and had some good fun with all the other guards at the time... anyway good luck if you decide to go for it, the course is quite good fun actually (i re did mine about 2 years ago for fun ... thats quite sad really .. also like to know what to do in an emergency) bye

Hi Skithepowder - haven't been able to contact the person who could help you - sorry - maybe tomorrow!
