An employed driver was off for 9 weeks on the sick - normally they get £20 per week for not wrecking the lorry and is accrued over a 6 month period - total £520 - is entitled to the 9 weeks x £20 that he was off sick ?

For example, someone who works on a factory production line might be entitled to a bonus each week, which is dependent upon the productivity rate for that particular line. However (with most employers) staff won't receive any such bonus when they weren't actually present to earn it. (e.g. when they're on holiday or off sick).
Since the driver in your question wasn't sitting in his cab during the relevant period, he wasn't in a position to earn the bonus. So (unless he happens to have an unusually generous employer) I can't see how he could be entitled to the bonus payments.

Where DH used to work there were safety bonusses given for periods of time without an incident or accident. The payments were team based so if a member of the team was off sick they still got the same share of the bonus as if they had been there. Same for periods of leave. So if the bonus is assessed by the whole team (Fred messes up and nobody gets their bonus) then he may be still entitled. If the bonus is assessed for each individual (Fred screws up and only Fred loses out) then its less likely....depends on the T's and C's though.
