Hi

I split with my partner 5 weeks ago. She has her own car, but decided to take both her own and also my second car. I have written two letters and verbally requested the car back , but still she will not return the vehicle. The car is registered in my name, can anyone suggest what i do?

Thanks

Contact the Police.

Have you got a spare set of keys, if so, go and retrieve it yourself.

Now being the registered keeper doesnt mean you are the registered owner, so if she is paying any credit on it then this may stop you getting the law involved.
If you are the registered owner and she had no financial involvement in purchasing the car/insurance etc then it is your car and not hers. Thus, she has stolen your vehicle. Pehaps you could warn her that she has a three days to return the car or you will report the car stolen to the police. This may scare her into returning it.

Hi

The car is not on finance and was paid for by myself.

I did think about the police, but was worried if they take things to the next level, all i simply want is my car back.

Think i will inform her that i will be going to the police, hopefully this will cause the right reaction.

Splitting is bad enough, just been trying not to make things even worse.

Thanks
call the Police and report the car as stolen. Whether it was taken by someone you know or not, it was tekn without consent thus it will be classed as stolen.

Call the Police straight away mate! She could collect a load of parking and speeding tickets, as the registered keeper you will be held liable. think of yourself mate!
Hmmm, spaced is correct. She could be collecting speeding/parking tickets and you will be liable to pay for them. Just report it stolen and explain to the police the situation. You dont have to press charges, but i would report it straight away. Dont wait for the knock on the door from them...
