Divorce & money

Seperated a year ago. Spent money supposed to go to ex. Divorced now. Was it illegal to spend the money?

did she have an order from the courts? is there any children involved? can you ellaborate a bit?

Hi . One boy of ten. I've been paying maintenance. She already had over twenty thousand and will probably get our house in spain. The money was a deposit back from a spanish builder. I was made( by her Spanish Solicitor) to sign a paper to say I would give her half the cheque before they would release it to me. It was a cheque in my name. She is now taking me to court. I would be gratefull to know where I stand.

if you have signed a legaly binding document you could be in trouble i would take the parperwork to a solicitor and check asap!!

There was nothing on the document to say when i had to pay the money to her. There were some unknown expenses for me to take out first. My solicitor informed me at the beginning that it would not be illegal to spend the money. There is still enough money in the spanish property to pay her half from that. I am thinking of letting her have the property anyway.

im sure your solicitor knows more than me so take his advice.. i think its great your paying for your son i know it seems weird to say but so many dont..
