Owing an ex money
My ex put 30,000 into our then house. He decided to leave and wanted his money back. We came to a written agreement - not a legally binding one that i would remortgae on my own(taking his name off the morgage and give him 15,000 upon completion of the remortgage (transfer of equity) and the remaining 15,000 " when i am financially able to do so or upon sale of the house".(quoted in the written agreement).
(I wanted to remain in the house as i was looking after and providing care for our severely disabled daughter.
This happened about 1 and a half years ago. Since then, things have turned rather sour between us and i have now just received a letter from his solicitors claiming that he now believes that i am finacially able to pay him back the money - hte remain9ng 15,000. It also says that i need to pay it within the next 14 days or court proceedings will be issued. I am not in a position to pay the monies back. I remorgage in February and i maybe able to get some money then. Our daughter died in October he made no payements to funeral expeses and did not pay any contribution towards her for the last 3 months of her life. Please could you tell me where i stand legally Thanks.
