Hi does anyone know where i stand or if i can do anything ? my neighbour has a 15/16/foot tropical plant ( I think it's in a pot) and it is shading alot of my garden .
Her house is council mines not.
I cannot talk to her as she is unaproachable.

Contact your nearest council because it makes no difference if you live in a private or council house,there is a height restriction on plants and hedges
Oh no there isn't.
In the case of a high hedge it is possible for a council to use the statutory nuisance legislation. But not for a single tree.

So if the council have a word with her might they be able to make her move it?
thing is the gardens are not very big and its going to take most the sun away

yes the best thing to do is check with council before you do anything, i know that if a tree is hanging over onto your side of a property then you are allowed to cut your side only, but seeing as this could be moved to another part of his/her garden then this might be the answer.
