Return of unwanted mail order goods
11 Answers
I ordered a guitar from a reputable dealers website, but have ended up with the wrong one. They claim its the one I ordered, I say its not. The invoice also says the wrong guitar. They are willing to take it back but want to charge me for postage. I thought there was some kind of law about if its sent through the post you have 7 days to approve it and have it collected if its not what you wanted? I feel as if they have sent me the wrong guitar and im having to pay for it.

However, the law does not specify the cost of return postage and it is up to the retailer to specify the terms and conditions and the buyer to read them.
This is the 'cooling off period' relevant to the Distance Selling Regulations but I would expect a full refund including all postage costs as the wrong item has been sent.
Call them again and ask them to send the correct item and a pre-paid shipping label so you can return the other one.
If you paid by credit card they may be able to help you.
