Rent increase on garage

For 8 years I have rented a garage.

I have paid regularly and on time every month at the beginning of the month.

I have even made the repairs as and when.

I have never had a lease of any kind and only met the landlord twice.

Now he has handed over the reins and they want to charge me another two thirds of the original rent.

I was wondering where I stand from a legal point of view.

Hi Jenna1978.

When I took on the garage I wrote a note to confirm my address and that I was replacing the previous tenant.

I have never received anything feom the landlord.
