exactly, why should you let them search your house, it would just get very annoying aswell, you'v had a lot of trouble from them
i am not a small person and the last one to come ringing the doorbell and kicking at my door soon moved off when he saw he was not getting in .
the best thing since sliced bread is the video camera they hate it , if looks could kill you are talking to a dead man. bet the scumag had a good look on the net to see if i had put up his picture and car.

Here is a direct quote from the tv licensing web site at http://www.tvlicensin...is-not-needed-top12/.

"It makes no difference how you watch TV - whether it's on your laptop, PC or mobile phone or through a digital box, DVD recorder or TV set - if you use any device to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV, the law requires you to be covered by a TV Licence.
If you don't use any of these devices to watch or record television programmes at the same time as they're being shown on TV - for example, if you only use your TV to watch DVDs or play video games, or if you only watch programmes on your PC after they have been shown on TV - you don't need a TV Licence. If this is the case, please let us know."

Note you are expected to declare your use of your TV to watch DVDs only. Detectors can be used to see if you are actually watching a TV transmission. They will check. And experience says you will get hassled regularly so I think you have to decide if you want to put up with that or just pay the fee.

Cheers.
i'd say he would have, i'm sure they wouldn't mind if they had balaclavas on, hopefull you can get them to stop annoying you, but as for me i like watching tv so i have a tv licence
Note you are expected to declare your use of your TV to watch DVDs only

if you phone them up they will want to search the house and i mean all rooms and look in large boxes etc. notice how they put you are expected, it is not law. you are best to just ignore the scum.
td when i had a licence i did not watch much tv. it is a long story but they called at my house when i had a licence.
no apology off the scum so i never got another. had one for the last 20 years at this address. always answer the door with a camera. stuff em

Thanks Aberrant thats all I wanted to know.
bednobs says "when you buy a tv they take your name and address and cross reference."

Correction. They take A name and address.

You don't have to give them your name and address.
top_driver says "the reason being proove you havn't been using it, or proove you can't recieve a tv reception for whatever reason"

You don't have to prove anything.

It's up to the prosecution to prove the offence.
DrFilth says "if you had not broken any law would you let the scumbags search your house .remember these scumbags have no powers they are not the police"

Remembering that some of them (and you don't now which) haven't been CRB checked.
alpha-male says "Note you are expected to declare your use of your TV to watch DVDs only.2

Whole they would LIKE you to, there's no requirement for you to inform them.
