My neighbour has just put 3 lines of barbed wire on top of a 6 foot wooden fence. The wire is three lengths fastened to metal bars, and stands another 2 foot above the wooden fence.
Is this legal. Anyone with knowledge of the law on this matter, would be very welcome.
If it was me, I'd be inclined to put a little disclaimer somewhere along the fence. If some thieving little mite was to climb over the fence, at least they couldn't say they weren't warned!
I think it's ILLEGAL. However I don't know why your neighbour has put all this onto a "6ft fence", however if someone was to get injured whilst climbing over, your neighbour could be taken to court (which is wrong because no1 should be climbing his fence) But thats how stupid our laws / justice system is!
Is it barbed wire or razor wire?(razor wire is lethal).Did your neighbour explain why he she or they did this or do you not communicate? I ask this because if it infringes onto your property I would think that your neighbours are moraly if not legally responsible to explain their actions to you
The problem with "warning signs" : the injured intruder sueing you can still say he "cant read" if it is a written warning sign without symbols. And even with symbols, if it is at night when the thief cut himself badly and your sign wasnt LIT , you can be sued.
