in which the subject of receipts has arisen. Can anyone tell us if it is against the law not to give a receipt. The shop that did not give the receipt was Greggs. I was of the opinion that a large concern like this would give receipts automatically but . . .?

But you disposed of it, so tough.

Should've frozen it until you were going back there. You phoned to register your disapproval, they know the score.
It's made me want to buy a Steak Bake. I just hope they're as nice as those lovely (meatless) Fray Bentos pies.
I'm with you Mrs C. When I were a lad Fray Bentos pies had meat in them. Never buy them now.
When I was poor we used to have those Fray Bentos pies...........

We used to have a big old telly back in the good old days. The picture used to roll until you gave it a good thump on the top - that solved the problem (for a short while, anyhoo).

Too good for crimewatch, more Miss Marple...Steak Bake In The Lake maybe
Like I said pinki you are missing the point. To be frivolous about crime watch is very sad on your part.

I agree about Fray Bentos pies - such a disappointment these days - and so expensive. In my youth they were gorgeous, as were their suet puddings.

Sorry everyone, I'm off to bed. Night all. Didn't realise such a simple question would arouse such a response. Have fun.
Neither did I star. night night♥

In fact, it was a fake Steak Bake.
A receipt is only compulsory if you ask for one - and even then it doesn't have to be a till receipt. Scribbled on the back of a fag packet would meet the law if it had the right details.
Greggs are really taking a Pasting these days ! ;-))
i still don't really understand what the dissasitisfied steak bake person wanted greggs to do about his steakless bake. They would have probably either given him another one or his money back if he had gone back. They are hardly going to come 9 miles to give him another one, and i don't really see what else they could have done over the phone
