hey ruwarashe,
i just want to ask before u had your interview. did u write on the application form that you had a caution!! and then did they call you for an interview?
or did you not disclose it on the application form?
i feel to not bother writing it on the application form, and just see what happens, cant you lie an say that you didnt really know about it still being there, as you assumed that it was 'spent'. because it was not a conviction. Do you think it would work?
have you ever tried that?

be happy I have not mentioned it on application forms but at the interview something like I have had a caution in the past but don't know whether it will appear on the crb as it was spent and hear what they say. B ut don't start the job without declaring as you will get a sac. B e happy do u know when cautions can be declared as spent?.
hey ruwarashe
apparently cautions last for 5 years. but the thing is they never really become 'unspent' they are always goin to be there in tha background. i got mine in 2000, and 2001 and they r still there up till now.
the thing is when u fill out an application form for a job, they ask 'have you got any unspent convic\tions, cautions or repramands'
what is a person supposed to put? that really confuses me. why do they only say 'unspent convictions' but yet you have to declare a caution. do u only hav to declare it if it is past a certain amout of time?
iam really confused? does anyone know the answer?

Hi I must say its been really difficult getting a carers job with all the explaining, but I have managed to temp with Agencies its coming up to five years I still have it on record , so the police said they wil weed it off this year. I finish my training the same time but will wait till I apply for it to be weeded off till I can get a job. I am afraid a caution is just as bad as a conviction it last for ages . I wonder why they even call it a caution. With your friend things will be renewed its the explaining and embarrassment that comes with it not forgetting the stigma.
