In 1986. I was convicted of shoplifting a bottle of pop but, because of fear of losing my job, we went to Crown Court. In 1989 I had 2 further cautions for shoplifting. When I applied for the PNC check last week, the 21year old conviction still showed up. I thought that it would have been deleted after all this time, as, even though we went to Crown Court, it was still a minor offence. I read that it only remains on file after 20years if you went to jail, or had 3 convictions. I want to apply for a voluntary job and this entails a CRB check. Does anyone know if I can apply to anyone to get this deleted? I just feel that I've hung my head in shame for long enough. In the reply letter, it stated that if I'd applied before April 1st 2006, I could have had it deleted. Why not now?
you cannot get the conviction removed at all,it will remain on your file for ever and every enhanced crb check, will show it up,however it is a spent conviction and people should take that into account, but you will never be able to get it removed.whoever told you it could be removed is totally wrong,im afraid you have to live with it.
