Assault charges pending

Ive been called a suspect in a class A assault with injury in Texas. In my home a good friend became out of control and when asked to leave refused. i grabbed him by the arm and tried to remove him and was swung at.i retaliated and gave him a black eye. no witnesses no police contact as i left my house before the cops arrived. the dilemma begins as i am on felony probation and can not recieve this charge. is this enough info to avoid being charged or should i seek counsel?
