i was due to start nurse training next week, but sadly yesterday was told my crb has been rejected. This is due to a caution i received for battery and criminal damage. this was a domestic situation and scratched my ex partners face and kicked the wing mirror of his car. i was under severe stress at this time, and was honest with the uni from the start, i even told the people that interviewed me, everyone is shocked by this. i have been told to appeal but just need some advice from anyone that has been here before. i feel alone and very negative as i have worked hard to get to this and have never been in any trouble before. please help

sorry, but what vulnerable person would want someone who is guilty of battery looking after them? If the uni was okay with it, its probably the NMC who are objecting, so you probably have to go straigt to them. I dont think you could use the "under severe stress" arguement as nursing is at times a stressful career, and i wouldnt want to think that after a bad day, you would be likely to flip out. If you do a search on here, i remember a similar question from someone who had gone through 2 years of training and been chucked out because of a caution for lumping a bouncer - you may find some help on that thread

sorry but i take offense to than. i have worked in care work for 15 years and never has there been an incident invovling any of the people in my care, and severe stress was losing my child and my home, nothing comes close to the stress of that - but thanks for making me feel better!!!!
i dont think its a case of making you feel better or not - just showing you what whoever has turned you down is probably also thinking. I have a feeling there is a list of things that people who undertake nurse training have to comply to (like teacher training)
If you have children, how would you feel if you found out their teacher had a caution for violent behaviour?

thanks that was very usefull
Dont let this refusal get you down.....their loss in missing out on someone who wanted to work for them.

Try somewhere else, in another care home or hospital. Keep trying and you will find a position that suits you and wants you.
I don't know you but my heart goes out to you keep on trying to find a suitable job. But remember no matter the situation please do not pick up your hand or scratch anyone or do criminal damage again, otherwise you can eventually be arrested and convicted. I am telling you from experience I received a caution and it was for self defense, for years my partner had been abusive, it has stoped now becasue I am putting my Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism into my life and not just in my head and in this Buddhism I will not be protected if I am angry and violent, it is about cause and effect from time without beginning, karma(though, action and deed) we have a brain and have choices, we are accountable for our actions, the Lotus Sutra, the best English version is by Burton Watson, there are 28 chapters the 2nd and 16th are the heart of it, so please look the Hokkeko up, there is a branch in the UK, however at this point it is not an offically organisation in the UK, we don't have charitable status. I wish you the best in your life.
Kind Regards
