Plead not guilty....it's that simple. The onus is on the prosecution to prove that it was you who drove through the red light. But,
It becomes a bit more complicated if the number plate cited matches the model of the car you drive.
For example if the registration T123 ABC is registered for your Ford Mondeo but a Mazda MX5 is shown on camera, it seems clear that something is amiss. But the onus to prove that you were not the driver, or it wasn't your car switches to you if both types of car are the same.
I very nearly got 'done' several years ago for failing to report an accident.
A car (same model, same colour, and apparently my reg number) was seen hitting another vehicle and then driving off. It wasn't me and it wasn't my car. Thankfully, I had an alibi.
At the material time I was 60 miles away carrying my grandfather's coffin prior to his cremation.
