How long will my brother get for gbh ?

my little bro has been charged with gbh.. he had a stanly knife in his hand intimidatin his gf with it and accidently then cut her face she needed it glued..
b4 this he strangled her and was slso intimidating her with a hammer and screwdriver. he has had previous he done 3weeks in prison for abh on his previous gf, as he broke her nose. He obviously needs help. My family and I are goin out our minds not knowing whats happening. Could anyone tell us how long he is looking at.
I understand a max ov 5yrs on section 20 and cud do a life sentance on section18... jsut dont know wot to expect coz he has had previous.

Beckie, I think you know that prison will be the best place for your Brother, I once had a step-son, who drank heavily, beat women, into drugs and very violent, he died when someone put a knife through his heart while asleep, he was also about 22.

He needs to learn his lessons now!!!

yes Ratter i defo know its the best place for him... he cud end up killing someone and it cud be our family memeber.. so ov course i know its best for him, just very hard bcoz i know deep down he is such a vunerable person and has a heart ov gold! he is a brilliant dad and from what his gf sed an amazing bf but when he switched and got mad it got bad, like it was a different person...the drugs and drinking dont help at all..especially when he is on a come down :(
