Is this a hypothetical question, sandy...?

Absolutely. Although I'm typing this evening with just one hand.
I have subscribed to this question in case I find myself in such a situation in the future...
Depends what you were doing when you slipped in the shower, there could be contributory negligence.....
what did you slip on ?(snigger)
Prudie, it's *hypothetical*
You would try to sue the company that manage the massage parlour.

Compensation would depend on many factors - how long it took to heal, how much you lost in wages, how much you had to pay out on medical fees, taxis, and other out of pocket expenses.

The amount would be reduced or nothing if the parlour could show they took every reasonable precaution to make the shower area safe; or you contributed to the accident because you were drunk or hadn't taken reasonable care in an area you should know will be wet and soapy and may be slippery.
That's odd.

I thought that you only went to massage parlour AFTER you'd broken your wrist, so that someone else could do what you could no longer do ;-)
Oh Ok, in that case take them to the cleaners
It's that damn shower curtain again, I only hope that snags wasn't in there before you.

I never drink. So no contributory negligence.
If your covered with almond oil and then walk on a slippery floor, isn't that an accident waiting to happen?
Their fault, surely?
Almond oil? were you making a salad?
was the oil for excess ear wax ?
Question Author
It was either that or olive oil. I think they're a holistic place, only like natural products.
^^Are there really massage parlours that'll send someone round to decorate while you're poorly? :) ^^
Contributory negligence isn't just about drinking, it's about not taking care - did you undertake a risk assessment before you submitted to said oiling?
Sandy:
If you actually want a (vaguely) legal answer, you'd have to prove 'negligence' on the part of the operators of the massage parlour, while showing that you exercised 'due diligence'.

'Compensation' often mainly takes into account loss of income. If you were an internationally famous artist, who lost millions of pounds through being unable to work, you might get that sort of money in compensation. If you're reliant on your state pension, you might get relatively little.

If I go to Tescos in the morning when it opens and say I slipped on their floor?
''I only hope that snags wasn't in there before you''

No I wasn't. I was in there at the same time... holding the bottle of Almond oil...
