Have you been watching too many 'compensation ads' on the telly?

If you slipped in Tesco you could only make a successful claim if you could show negligence on their part. Assuming that you slipped on something spilt by another customer, you'd have to show that the store staff knew about the spillage (or should have known about it) and failed to respond accordingly. If you slipped on something which was only dropped a few seconds beforehand, you'd have no valid claim against Tesco (although you might have one against the customer who created the spillage).
