The Executor does this by opening a specific bank account in the name 'Executor of Mr Bloggs' that enables him to take in the money released by building societies etc and pay out the beneficiaries. No need to involve a solicitor unless extremely complex - waste of money.

The executor distributes the assets according to the Will
normally the executors would apply for probate and distribute the funds in accordance with the deceased's wishes which will include issuing the cheques.

thank you
Not sure what angle you are coming from:

if the deceased appointed the solicitor as executor, then the solicitor has the right and duty to do all the work

if the deceased apponted a relative, etc, as executor and that relative appointed a solicitor to assist, then it's up to the relative and solicitor to agree who does what

The relative doesn't have to use a solicitor - it's perfectly possible to DIY
