I know it is an offence not to have your correct address on your driving licence - do you get points and/or a fine if caught?? I know a couple of people that have on off relationships with their partners and sometimes live with them and sometimes live elsewhere (not always staying at the same place) what address should they have their licence registered to?

I've moved 3 times and haven't changed mine....

Oh dear! ummmmm
I got a warning when I got caught with mine. Not sure what the actual fine should be though.
I'm not worried....It hasn't caused me a problem.
You are legally obliged to notify DVLA of a change of address and the penalty for not doing so is a fine of up to £1000.
I just googled it - up to £1000 fine. You can update it on-line.
I recently moved. I was gonna change my address but I couldn't find my licence (a green paper one from 77 as well!) so I sorta left it as it didn't seem that urgent. However I watched a TV programme where because DVLA didn't have an up to date contact address, the driver missed out on being told something (or responding to something, can't recall) and ended up invalidating his insurance (even though he paid for it) and lost out big time. As such I did change mine.

In this case though as they go back I can't see a problem.
I suppose it's only if you get stopped by the police that a problem might arise.
don;t forget there is a change in the rules. if you have points and don;t send your licvense back to be validated they will write to you and give you 28 days notice to sort it, if you don;t your license is revoked. So if your address details are not correct and you get say a speeding fine and points/fine awarded, if all that goes to the wrong address, you could end up without a license at all

and i have had to deal with one of our drivers who this happened too, was an ab nightmare to sort out and its still going on. As a rep who drives for a living its ob made a bit of an impact, i;ve had to take the car away, luckily she has been moved to telesales so has kept a job at least
While serving in the armed forces my licence had to be registered at my parents or a close relatives address because the DVLA cant use Military addresses especially those overseas.

Quite a few lads fell foul of the 28 day ruling due to the time it took the letters to reach parents and then get forwarded to where ever they were in the world. I got quite used to court rooms and arguing the defence of the lads due to the inadaquacies of the DVLA computer system.

For the majority of people who have an on/off relationship it should not be a problem as long as they are spending some of their time at the stated address and keeping an eye on the mail.
