Validity of a Contract signed in Quebec in the UK
1 Answers
Hi
I recently left my employment in Quebec, Canada and signed a contract to pay back some relocation money. However since my return the company i left has been very unco-operative with providing references and completely ignoring emails from me and my new employer in the UK. Also i havnt heard from my previous company as they were meant to update me on what i owed them. I am therefore in a right mind to forget about them and not pay anything. As the contract I sgned states in accordance with Quebec Law, what validity does this have in the UK?

Assuming that you do not have Canadian assets, they can't do you for bankruptcy but they can block you from visiting Canada and damage your credit reports.....
Best to try and find a solution - contact their HR director and failing that, write to their Chairman/CEO and Fedex the letter into his/her office - they have to sign for it, so you know that it has arrived - and precisely when.
