Last week there was an argument between my sister and another female. During the argument the other female has said that another member of my fmaily had tried to rape her, then she left. I have spoken with my sister and she is adamant that this was said. So I have now spoken with the other female that has not denied saying it. When I asked what happened and explained what had been said all she said was ill make it easy ill not see any of you again. This does not clear up the problem can anyone advise how best to stop this and clear it up. The other female will no longer speak with me and we just need to make sure this is not said to someone else that is not related to the family. Rumours like this are not nice. I called the police but they don't want to know. Any help at all would be great.

Are you more concerned that she is lying or that she is telling the truth?
you can't realistically stop anyone saying anything they want to anybody
This is slander - defamation of one's good name and reputation. You could sue but to do so at least one other person must also have heard and taken it seriously.
