HI there the Tv Licensing people were round this morning and they asked a whole lot of questions and then gave me a form saying that they are taking this to the Procurator Fiscal (I live in Scotland) and I may be prosecuted. Do I have to go to court? What could the procurator fiscal do? And could this be on my criminal record. If so I may never get a job. I have had to borrow the money from my parents to buy one and they are nagging at me so much I literrally have earache.

I think you posted a similar question earlier.

What will happen will depend on the PF, I would imagine.

Why did you not have a TV licence? Surely you knew it was required?

I didnt get any helpful answers that is why I reposted it and your answer just proves that point
Apologies. I was just about to retract my response once I saw you had posted in law.

Err....the reason you didn't have one is kinda important. And don't get snotty with people who are trying to help you!
They need proof that you were actually watching live TV as it was broadcast.

what proof do they have ?

Why did you even bother to answer the door to them, you dont have to speak to them in any way or form, you should have just ignoted them
I think this may be treated like not having a licence for your car. You must have one by law so would imagine you will be charged. Whether you have to go to court or not is another matter - there may be a fine which may be rather large, depending on how long you have been without a TV licence.

A year without a tv licence but I am more worried about this being on a criminal record
Even if it is and showed up on an enhanced CRB, it's hardly crime of the century and I don't think it would stop you getting work. Stop winding yourself up and wait to see what happens.
That's not true Baz. If you own a TV is has to be disabled from being able to receive a signal for TV.
I know this to be true. It took me two years of arguing with them that I don't own a TV, not even a disabled one. They tried to catch me out with everything but I genuinely don't own one nd so I am on the don't pester list now.
Gordie, the law in Scotland is the same as England I believe, so yes, you could face court and yes, you will probably receive a fine, but we can't tell you that with any certainty because the decision lies with the PF.
Here's a link explaining it, but only as well as people have already tried to do. I hope it helps.

"A year without a tv licence but I am more worried about this being on a criminal record"

Then you should have bought a TV licence, then, shouldn't you?
You knew you needed one, you knew you didn't have one, you have absolutely no excuse for not having one when plenty of law abiding citizens buy theirs every year

you judgemental person pink kittens you obviously are so perfect and never make mistakes congratuilations
gordie1 - I suggest you hold your hands up, set up a direct debit and apologise profusely, pointing out the serious health issues you have had including time in hospital which must have meant you had a lot on your mind and could explain the oversight regarding renewal. Good luck
unless they knew your name when they came to your door then you should have done nothing from that point on, you are not legally obliged to give them your name and without a name they cannot issue any kind of summons.
thank you
I've never in my life, committed a criminal offence, no but you have

IF you cannot afford it, get a B&W TV or get rid of the TV, end of. Instead those of us who do pay it also pay for the likes of you who don't and that does make me a more perfect person than you

I would love to get a job and pay for it and contribute to society but this country is overridden with European Immigrants thanks to this government letting them in willy nilly and local employers taking them on and giving them chances instead of trying to help reduce unemployment locally by employing local unemployed people and trying to get people off benefits if they are so bothered send them all home and give British jobs to British people
are you seriously blaming working immigrants for you not having a licence?
Why would employers take on ''East European workers ahead of 'British' ones, geordie.
Sending them all home isn't possible and wouldn't make ant=y difference if other countries reciprocated since emigration tends to pretty much cancel out immigration.
Besides, East Europeans are spending money here and contributing to the economy.

I don't think it will be much of a defence to start arguing the immigration issue. Just sell your TV or get a licence, set up a DD and plead mitigation referring to your serious health issues
You seem to have many problems gordie.

Not paying your TV licence.
Anti anyone who is not "British".
An aggressive attitude to other posters.
And lastly, an inability to use any punctuation in your postings.

In the last month I applied for over 40 jobs and had 3 interviews 1 a hotel receptionist, the other a waiter and the third one an assistant in a shop. this week I went into the hotel to meet a friend and the receptionist was from Latvia and her English was appalling, I went out for a meal to the restaurant and there was not one waiter that was British and I went into the shop this week and the person serving me was from Poland and I heard her boss say to someone that she was a new start. Now how can someone from this country be expected to find work if this is going on? There is no reason why a British person could not do any of these jobs.
