I heard an interesting point of view today on the subject of decriminalising all drugs.
Assuming it is true that 80% of ALL crime is drug related (as is often said) then could the real reason most police are against it is that with all drugs available free in treatment centres then we could make 80% of the police redundant , close 80% of the prisons and make 80% of the staff redundant, and get rid of 80% of courts, lawyers, magistrates, judges , probation officers and the rest. It should save many £100s of millions a year so is fear of redundancy the real reason police do not want to see drugs decriminalised?

Or are you suggesting we pay people to be drug addicts?

Essentially, yes, I think that's the suggestion.

Like we pay people to have cancer by giving them free treatment.
this should be posted in Twilight ZOne.

Put in alcohol says one enthusiastically
and it will be even better

like no alcohol laws will clear our streets of winos, wee stains, vomit ?

coz they will all sober up ?

At least - adding in alcohol shows the fallacy of the argument
.

Like we pay people to have cancer by giving them free treatment.

I got paid for having cancer twice actually- can I have my money back ?

cassa333, you are not reading the question, the idea is that ALL drugs will be supplied FREE at treatment centres so there will be no need to pay for them.
This is what happens in Portugal, users register with a doctor as an addict and are then supplied free of charge with their drugs, and at the same time are given help and treatment to become drug free. They do not get to take drugs away from the treatment centre and are only given enough to satisfy their habit
so what about those who are not addicts but like a puff or two of Jamaica's finest *** or whatever it's called these days, do they also get it for free, or buy it from the pharmacist, what if they are shut when they fancy a toot.
no idea why the name of the drug was blipped, very odd.
s kank weed?
Eddies, is this treatment plan in Portugal working?
