Depends on the level of violence.

ok, he caused a sprained wrist, bruised ribs, various bruises over stomach and back from kicking
Has he been arrested?

The legal eagles will surely be in to quote the guidelines but in my personal experience not much will happen.

When I was a victim of domestic violence, my young daughter phoned the police, they just dropped him somewhere else. No interest whatsoever.

Press charges.

there already was a restraining order out against him which he broke, have got a witness to the last assault. He is also in a position of authority (a policeman himself) so will lose his job over it
as ummmm said..alas domestic abuse rarely gets dealt with satisfactorily
If he's gone against a restraining order then he's committed another offence.
restraining orders are only bits of paper...if he wants to get at you he will..although if he is a copper then he has clearly committed an offence and he will be dealt with for that... good luck to you..DON'T let it drop..be strong
Being a police officer is only going to go against him, given the fact he should have a stronger knowledge of criminal offences than Joe Public.
Or go in his favour!!
Ummmm: I very much doubt it will, especially with the fact there was a restraining order and the fact that there is a witness.
..will depend very much on how strong the "old boys" network is !
There are certain things you can sweep under the carpet but I don't think he's got a big enough brush for this one.
Either way...still don't think much will happen.
you would be surprised Diz ! my ex was in quite a public high powered position..I also had a restraining order which was broken repeatedly and somehow he wriggled out of anything being done..even when I was put in hossie !
You need to get a solicitor on this case and make sure they know he is a policeman. He is using his police contacts to make sure this does not get acted on. This HAS to be reported to the police complaints authority not to his local police force.

Jordy...don't forget, it works both ways. Women shouldn't hit men either.
if only they were all like you Jordy ma wee sausage xx
agree ummmm...never is good either way
As long as the complaint is handled correctly , by the police complaints authority this man will almost certainly go to jail. He will lose his job for certain.
Clearwater you need to get a solicitor on the case NOW!
