I have just paid the annual tv licence fee with a credit card in my name.
I tried to change the name on the website from my husband's to mine but it states that he must write to them to change it, and unfortunately he is dead.
I know I can't go on indefinitely like this as at his 75th birthday there is a reduction I think, but in the meantime, just ignore??

Hi, Jennykenny

Next time you get the reminder in your husband's name just ignore it and apply for a licence in your name.
I am sorry for your loss. If you send them a copy of your late husband's death certificate with a covering letter there should be no problem.
All you need to know here. Licence remains in force so don’t worry.

Oh Peter, you're hilarious!
Quizbag , thank you for taking the time to answer but I feel that I shouldn't need to do this. Nothing personal, but thousands of people don't pay the damn thing every year and they are making it difficult for me to be honest.
Thanks Cactus. Good thinking.
Woofgang, as often, you have nailed it.
Thank you all.
Sorry, I ticked the wrong box. Meant best answer to be Woofgang.
It is the address that is licenced NOT the person. You are fine do not worry about it.
Next year just apply for a new licence in your name. Use the procedure to get a new licence not a renewal of the old one.
tis ok JK, I like PP’s answer better :)
You can change Best Answer at any time, Jenny.
