The mother will get the benefit for a single Mother with 3 children. When the father comes out and he is not working they will get the rate for a non working couple with 3 children. The father will be required to sign on for Job Seekers Allowance when he gets out as long as he is not in employment.

OK missed that.
The mother would only get her benefit reduced if the father was working full time and making contributions to the family finances.
'In a couple' would apply if the Dad came back to live with them anytime.

She will be assessed on her needs and the kids and of course her income and outgoings

the fact that the father is not there and contributing will be taken into account but not what he has done or where he is ....

the prison itself may have information on help to visit
if that is what she is going to do ( doesnt sound like it )

and when the father is released it will depend on whether the situation changes as to whether benefits change ( like whether he moves in and gets a job ) - also sounds unlikely - there certainly will NOT be a situation where he can grasp £20 and say "O that is mine, or that is my share " and take it.

Yes he has been in prison for over a year now but is due out in July.....thankyou for mentioning my daughter...yes it is a shame her and the three children have landed up like this.... but she has put up with his drinking and gambling for 16 years but as soon as he got into trouble with the police that was enough for her...she tried so hard over the years but enough is enough. Makes you laugh as he still says he loves his children and would do anything for them.. and everything he does is for them.??? REALLY !! is that the way you do anything for them? By drinking and betting all the money away .. on more than one occasion ....taking ever penny from the childrens piggy banks....and then stealing? No not the way you bring up your children! They are all better of without him in the home.
