Back in may 2016, I got charged with theft but can't remember much of what happened as it's a year later and now I'm being summoned to appear at court. Is a year not a bit late for taking a charge to court thought it would have been done faster? Scotland

A year isn't that long. The wheels of the law turn slowly.

I have to say that if I was charged with something I would not forget the details so easily.

I never said i can't remember atall, I know what happened just not most of it.
Cases often take a year or more to get to court. The police need time to gather evidence and find witnesses .
if a trial does not commence after first appearance on petition the case is dropped....you have yet to appear..
No I think the time lag is OK
