Ok I was not sure what a nikkah was

Looks like you need to go through a civil ceremony in the UK .
Still not sure if the question is about getting a Muslim marriage recognised in the UK or if this is about a 2nd marriage in the UK when there is another wife back in Pakistan , it's not clear what the exact situation is, possibly the questioner can explain?

'Me and my husband have done our nikkah but we want to resgitry our marriage by UK law'
Makes me think that they have married in Pakistan and now want to register it in the UK. The bit about 'has a wife in Pakistan' then confuses the issue , but I think that my be a mistake due to English not being the questioners first language.

If his marriage in Pakistan was legal, you cannot marry in this country because he is already married and British law allows a man only one wife. If he intends to remain married to his first wife and you are considering becoming his second, you cannot do that legally in this country. In that case your only option is to marry in an Islamic ceremony here but such marriages are not recognised in British law. If his marriage in Pakistan wasn't legal, then he is a single man, and free to marry you.
She may be English but she comes across as someone for who English is not her first language, hence the confusion. I think she may be posting from Pakistan.
I am thinking they got married under Muslim law in Pakistan and now want to know if the marriage can be registered in the UK , 'wife in Pakistan' could be a reference to herself.
Need more detail as yes, it could be asking if they can be married in the UK even though he is already married in Pakistan.

None of us have any knowleddge of Islamic Law and how it fits in with standard English Law
The Marriage Act 1752 divided the religous and legal bits of marriage and clearly says one man one wife.
The High Court (London) in 1967 looked at islamic marriages contracted outside England and decided that they would be recognised
Here you say -nikah has been contracted in England - can it be registered ? we think not
No one has raised the possibility of your going to Pakistan and contracting a nikah there and coming back here. Could you register it then ? we dont know
no one has raised the question that in some islamic law jurisdictions the husband has to show he can support two wives before he can take a second
google - - - position of nikkah in english law
or - - - - how to register nikah in uk
then you will read a lot
Finchley mosque in London seems fairly sure - you can't
to register the nikah you would have to go thro a civil marriage ceremony and you can't do that as he has a recognised valid marriage already even tho it may not have been registered here
No wonder you are confused
