I believe that any executor named in a will has to agree to be removed. Some solicitors will agree...some will not...some will charge a fee to agree to removal, some will not.....

an executor doesnt have to administer a will
but with a solicitor he will be rubbing his hands at the prospect of fees.

so the q really becomes can you prevent a solicitor exercising his right to be an executor ( like you know for the reason that you wanna pay him less) - I think the answer is no

anyone alive with a will with a solicitor as an executor should take them off .... to avoid this
