Tenants changed the utility supply to my name back in June. She phoned and said she was me! I have only just got possession on 12th Aug.

EDF are going to email me the transcript and the chap is looking into whether they can send me the voice recording.

Is it fraud and would anything be done about it?

Thanks

Thank you :-)
am no legal beagle, but to me she perpetrated a fraud and EDF haven't covered themselves in glory either as it would appear they didn't carry out any security checks ( you know the sort, date of birth/mother's maiden name etc etc)

Might also be worth having a word with the energy regulator body about that.
hi Cass
my my you are busy with your typewriter today!

The elec should not have allowed your ex tenants to change the payer back into your name - so I think you have got far more help than you are entitled to - but remember you ARE named in the process so it is your data

Remember you are not responsible to pay the bill for elec that has been consumed by your ex-tenants and the date change is the date of the CCJ- which you are soon to have in your hot little hands
You should NOT pay the outstanding bill and try to get it off the tenants. Offer them the tenants new address and leave it at that
I am amazed they are transcribing it for you

anything else ( check gas and CT and water)

yes it is fraud under s.2. of the Act
http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/d_to_g/fraud_act/
which is here and you can read as you clearly have time on your hands
it is a conduct crime and they dont have to gain anything
all they have to do is make a false representation with an intention to bilk
