Well the young lad in question - saw Solicitor along with his cousin this morning (sorry I did say aunt). Cousin has come out pretty well monetarily - anyway the lad is "hyper" to put it mildly.

He and the cousin were made 2 Executors. She had been POA - 2 things I would like to ask.

1. Can the lad see a copy of the will

2. Apparently the "situation" is going to probate.

I always thought that if a will is made it would never go to probate.

Thanks for any advice.

I know most of you did say don't get involved and we haven't but he literally has not one person to help him.

I saw him last night after not seeing him for about 15 years and the guy is terrible looking. Just a skeleton with a bit of skin over him and no teeth for 45 years of age. My heart went out to him.

My recent experience showed that the organisations I have had to contact as Executor:- Bank, Credit Card, Home and Car Insurance, Telephone Provider, Utility Companies and Share Registrars appear to have dedicated people/teams to handle such matters and they have all acted in a proper and timely manner. I applied for Probate at the beginning of August and the only aspect that needs to be finalised is the sale of the house and then I can distribute the balance of the estate per the Will.

You said "Well I believe Solicitor asked the cousin to relinquish her Executor status (she was POA) this is what lad said but he doesn't know where he is. And she won't relinquish the Executor status. "

Good for her. Perhaps I'm being too suspicious but it could look like the solicitor trying to get himself made into an executor in her place.
agreed themas
I had spotted that and agree

basically JJ the lay executors can't charge
and by god any solicitor - executor can -does - and how!
nice list flonska
I would add pension ( do once and share) - sky or equiv - life insurance - and that was just about it ....

I wound up s/o's estate in 16 w - but he was clearly insolvent and I was main creditor. ( and we didnt ride around in anything )

not you JJ not you - that was the one where the relatives ( disinherited ) called around and said we understand you found £294 in the side board 0 can we have it please ?
and I said 0 it was two pounds ninety four (*) and do you want to contribute to the funeral - I down one or two thou.

they didnt

(*) two ninety four taken as £294. I was not in a mood to be amused
