you won't be able to enter the UK without a passport unless maybe you're claiming refugee status (and they don't get a lot of refugees from the totalitarian regime in Canada). I doubt you'll be able to leave Canada without one either. Airlines are very strict these days.

If you are being escorted by 'the authorities' of course you don't require a passport.

Most of us have the right to pass and re-pass

our knowlege of what happens if you dont ( have that right) is necessarily limited. I can't imagine much ( happens) if you dont have a passport

if you turn up without one and have a ticket - they wont let you fly as the airline has to pay for its returns
