A car keeps parking in my tenant’s parking space so my tenant is unable to park there as the space is Most of the time taken by this vehicle. I put notes on the car not to park there, the space has a big sign saying private-they still park there. Now I want to put a bollard but need to pay for it to be dug in, so need to book an installer. What can I do if that car is blocking the space when the installer arrives? I cannot clamp the vehicle but can I put a rope around it and pull it out of my space?

danny, You can't buy a space on a public thoroughfare.
ZM, There are many private parking spaces on the streets of Bradford.
I have personally been through the exact same scenario. My mother lived on the ground floor in a private block of flats. She was allocated a parking space across the courtyard. She didn't drive and often a alien car used the space ( untaxed).We left notes on the windscreen requesting the driver not to use this allocated space. My wife and or I frequently visited my mother with shopping, prescriptions etc and found the space occupied. When Mum died I had to clear her flat so arrived with my Land Rover and Trailer and backed it up on to the vacant bay. Soon as I got out the car some mouth/gobby young female gives me the whiny,'Excusemeeeeee. Ow long do you fink you are gonna park there ?' from a 1st floor flat window. I told her for as long as it takes. She replied, 'You can't park there my fella will be home soon'. I explained that I now owned the flat in the block opposite and have deeds showing that the space in question is allocated to my flat. I offered to get the deeds with the plan clearly showing the allocation of spaces to the flats.
Mouth almighty backed down and admitted she rented the flat and her landlord told her the space was hers. I suggested she tell her fella to (a) Tax his vehicle and (b) find a space outside the block on the public highway. Once I had cleared the flat I returned with the trailer and left in the space with a wheel clamp on it until the flat was sold.
danny, from the OP 'the space has a big sign saying private'
Download the abandoned car 28 day notice here, and take a timed photo if you can. (you can download an app on your phone)
Then if that doesn't scare anyone into moving it, you can get the council to remove it. Email them with the details and the photo of the notice on the car.

You could try to find the address of the owner via this;

ZM, at the side of my GP's surgery there is a block of flats and on the road is a marked out parking space and painted on the space are the words " For the use of residents only"
People who have Parking spaces that are allocated but not on the property often put Private signs on them. I can see where Danny is coming from, which is why I asked my question above.

Thanks all - will try the traffic wardens route!

Ps. Having researched further it Looks like I’m not allowed to block them either...

This is an allocated parking space, which I bought with the property. It is clearly market with a big sign as belonging to my property
//ontact a 'Tow-away' company//

It's illegal to have th ecar towed. You could get a parking management company rto issue a fine after the signage is up.

Try the aboandoned car route first
Joanna111 I'd appreciate more info regarding legalities of blocking someone in..

What are they going to do, ring the police?

If they are putting their car on private land, you have every right to close the gate.
Seriously - use the 28 day notice I posted above, I've used it at work several times now to get cars removed.

LA Traffic wardens won't get involved if it's private land
The car isn't abandoned, though.
It comes back day after day.....that doesn't fit the criteria of being abandoned.

The signage warning of clamping, penalty fines, etc. costs nothing to put up and the 'tow-away company' are a lot more difficult to negotiate with than an irate householder.
I watched a tv programme recently which mentioned that there are no legal rights to allocated parking spaces that are not part of the property. There are only accepted rights. I would check this out if were you.
Question Author
I must have legal rights given it is my parking space (in red on dress)... Excercising those rights is another matter though as you can see
If it moves every day then it's simply a case of getting a mate to park there when it's gone.

Parking space is in red on my deeds - I bought it with the house. Surely have rights to use it.
I thought the poster said they weren;t sure if it was abandoned as it was always there. The notice itself may be sufficient to deter them from parking there again. It has worked for me.

It may be difficult to get a parking management comapny to put up signs and ticket one space. Worth asking them though for sure.
Has this been suggested?
